Practical Founder Notes From a Working Coaching Room

Every post you'll read here came out of an actual coaching session with an Australian founder who was stuck on a real problem. No recycled LinkedIn platitudes, no posts written by someone who's never held an ABN. Just the working notes we'd give a friend over coffee, written for people who'd rather build than scroll.

Melbourne Where we write from

From Real Sessions

Each post starts as coaching notes from a founder we were actually working with that week. Names changed, lessons kept.

Built for Doing

Every post ends with something you can act on this week. No vague "mindset" advice, no ten-step funnels to nowhere.

Australian Context

ABN, GST, ATO deadlines and the actual pace of Australian customer behaviour. Nothing copied from an American playbook.

What We Write About

Four themes we keep returning to

You'll notice a pattern if you read through our posts. These four areas are where founders consistently get stuck, so they're where we spend most of our writing energy.

First Revenue

Getting your first genuine paying customer without burning a budget on ads that don't convert.

Cash Flow

The unglamorous discipline that keeps small Australian businesses trading through slow quarters.

Hiring & Systems

Documenting the work and bringing on the right people at the right revenue triggers, not too early.

Founder Headspace

Staying steady through bad quarters, bad hires and the strange isolation of running your own thing.

What Readers Say

Feedback we get about the posts

A small sample of replies from founders who read these posts and wrote back to tell us what happened next.

"I read the first-customer post on a Sunday and had my first paid client booked by Tuesday. The advice was blunt and specific in a way most blogs aren't."

"The cash flow post forced me to finally set up a separate tax account. Twelve months later that single change probably kept my business alive."

"Refreshingly short posts. Most business writing makes me want to skim. These are the ones I actually read to the last paragraph."

Common Questions

What readers want to know

Short answers to the questions we get about the blog itself, publishing schedule and who actually writes the posts.

Roughly every second Tuesday. We'd rather publish less often and keep the quality high than churn out filler posts to fill a calendar.
Our senior coaches write them directly, usually straight after a session with a founder. Every post goes through at least one other coach before publication.
Absolutely, and it's encouraged. Send us a note through the contacts page and if the topic fits our readers, you'll usually see a post about it within a month or two.
We do occasionally, but only from founders or operators who have actually run something. Email us with a short pitch and one writing sample, and we'll have a chat.
Yes, and they always will be. There's no paywall and no plan to introduce one. The blog is part of the way we introduce ourselves to founders before they consider a program.

Got a topic we should write about?

Tell us what you're stuck on. If it's a problem other Australian founders share, we'll write about it and send you the post before anyone else sees it.
